The Muscle Building Diet Shopping List
Lots of people workout lots, but still aren’t gaining muscle as fast as they should be. What a lot of people new to muscle building don’t realize is working out is only half the picture. The other half is your muscle building diet.
Just to explain you need to be giving your body more energy then it normally uses. This means that your body can use this extra energy to build up new muscles, rather than just maintaining the body you already have. This means you need to feed your body a good muscle building diet.
The type of foods you need to eat are the foods that have a lot of energy packed in for their size. This way you get the maximum amount of energy into your meal before you feel to full to eat any more. You also need to feed your muscles the right type of food, so they can grow most efficiently.
So now here is the shopping list for what you should add to your muscle building diet:
1. Red Meat
A great source of protein and energy, which helps you build up muscle. Red meat also has iron, which helps deliver oxygen to your new growing muscle cells.
2. Eggs
These contain both vitamins and protein, helping you gain weight and muscle. Mix it up and have both whole eggs and just the egg whites (too many whole eggs can have too much cholesterol). I personally like to cook my eggs because I think it helps them get absorbed better in the body.
3. Oatmeal
This is a great breakfast food. If you add milk and some fruit you can get a lot of your necessary vitamins in this meal as well. If you are going to work out that morning, you can try adding some protein powder as well to help build up the muscles.
4. Fish
Another good source of protein and healthy fats, fish is a good alternative to meat to get your protein. It also provides you with fish oil, which is really good for your health in general.
5. Nuts
High in carbs so they provide you the energy you need, nuts make the perfect snack. These provide healthy fats, which provides your body with the energy it needs to build muscles.
6. Dried Fruit
Fruit is great and can provide you with lots of fibre and vitamins which keeps you healthy. The good thing about dried fruit, is they are more compact, so you are getting more benefits out of a smaller amount that you eat.
And always remember to eat plenty of vegetables. This list provides foods that will specifically help to gain muscle, but vegetables will always provide you with good protein, vitamins and fibre. They may not be as energy compact as some of these foods, but they make a good side dish or snack.
The foods outlined in this list are high in energy and protein, especially for their size. If you include these in your muscle building diet these should help you give your body the building blocks it needs to build you the muscles you want.
